Ingredients

  • 1 pound bulk pork sausage
  • 2 cups crumbled cornbread
  • 1 cup chopped yellow onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain off fat. Remove sausage from skillet and set aside.

  4. In a large bowl, combine crumbled cornbread, cooked sausage, softened onion and celery mixture, and beaten eggs.
  5. Gradually add chicken broth, mixing until ingredients are moistened. Season with salt to taste.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the dressing is heated through.
