Description
These heart cookies with Nutella are quick to make and offer a delightful taste that will sweeten any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups Self-Rising Flour (Can substitute with all-purpose flour combined with baking powder.)
- 1 cup Sugar (Consider using brown sugar for richer flavor.)
- 1 cup European Butter or Non-Salted Butter (Unsalted butter is a suitable alternative.)
- 1 large Egg (Can replace with a flax egg for a vegan option.)
- 1 cup Nutella (Optional: add 1 tablespoon of whipping cream to adjust consistency.)
- 2 tablespoons Powdered Sugar (For dusting on top.)
Instructions
- In a food processor, add self-rising flour, sugar, and European butter. Pulse until the mixture becomes crumbly and resembles coarse sand.
- Add the egg to the crumbly mixture and blend until a dough forms.
- Lightly dust your work surface with powdered sugar and roll out the dough to about ¼ inch thick. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out heart shapes.
- Gather any leftover dough scraps, reroll them, and cut out additional shapes.
- Place the cookie shapes on a parchment-lined baking sheet, ensuring they aren’t touching. Bake at 350°F for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden.
- Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
- In a small bowl, whip the Nutella until creamy and smooth.
- Spread a layer of Nutella on one heart cookie, and stack another on top.
- Sprinkle powdered sugar atop the cookie stacks for an elegant touch.
