Delicious Glutinous Rice Balls (Tang Yuan) for Sweet Moments


Ingredients

Scale
  • 200 grams glutinous rice flour
  • 50 grams icing sugar
  • 150 milliliters hot boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon blue food color (use sparingly)
  • 1 teaspoon red food color (use sparingly)
  • 1 teaspoon green food color (use sparingly)
  • 100 grams yellow rock sugar
  • 500 milliliters water
  • 3 pieces pandan leaves (tied in a knot)
  • 3 slices ginger

Instructions

  1. Combine the glutinous rice flour and icing sugar in a mixing bowl until well mixed.
  2. Slowly pour in the hot boiling water while stirring the mixture and knead until smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Divide the dough into small pieces, about the size of a marble, and roll into balls.
  4. In a pot, combine water, yellow rock sugar, pandan leaves, and ginger slices.
  5. Bring to a boil, then simmer until the sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes.
  6. Drop the shaped glutinous rice balls into the broth and cook until they float to the top, about 5-8 minutes.
