Description

Delicious homemade sourdough pop tarts filled with your favorite jam or pastry cream, perfect for breakfast or snacks.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup jam or pastry filling
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, cold butter, sugar, and salt. Mix until crumbly.
  2. Add the sourdough starter and vanilla extract, mixing until a dough forms.
  3. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into rectangles.
  5. Place filling in the center of half the rectangles, then top with remaining rectangles.
  6. Seal the edges with a fork and brush with the egg wash.
  7. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool before serving.
