Description

Savory Smash Dumplings filled with savory ground pork and crisp Napa cabbage, perfect for sharing at gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Napa cabbage (Pre-salt to remove excess moisture.)
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt (Enhances flavor and texture.)
  • 1 pound Ground pork (Can substitute with ground chicken or turkey.)
  • 2 tablespoons Reduced-sodium soy sauce (Regular soy sauce is also acceptable.)
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh ginger (Always use fresh for the best taste.)
  • 1 tablespoon Toasted sesame oil (Can substitute with olive oil.)
  • 2 scallions (Divided for filling and garnish.)
  • 1 large egg (Binds the filling together.)
  • 20 pieces Round wonton wrappers (Or dumpling wrappers if preferred.)
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil (For frying.)

Instructions

  1. Finely shred the Napa cabbage and sprinkle it with kosher salt. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to draw out excess moisture.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the drained cabbage, ground pork, reduced-sodium soy sauce, fresh ginger, toasted sesame oil, and half of the chopped scallions. Mix until fully combined.
  3. Take a wonton wrapper and spread a spoonful of the filling on one side. Smash the filled side down in a heated pan with oil.
  4. Allow the dumplings to brown for 3-4 minutes. Flip them, add water, cover, and steam for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  5. Remove the lid and keep cooking for another minute to let excess moisture evaporate.
  6. Plate your hot Smash Dumplings and serve with extra soy sauce for dipping.
