Description
Savory Smash Dumplings filled with savory ground pork and crisp Napa cabbage, perfect for sharing at gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup Napa cabbage (Pre-salt to remove excess moisture.)
- 1 teaspoon Kosher salt (Enhances flavor and texture.)
- 1 pound Ground pork (Can substitute with ground chicken or turkey.)
- 2 tablespoons Reduced-sodium soy sauce (Regular soy sauce is also acceptable.)
- 1 teaspoon Fresh ginger (Always use fresh for the best taste.)
- 1 tablespoon Toasted sesame oil (Can substitute with olive oil.)
- 2 scallions (Divided for filling and garnish.)
- 1 large egg (Binds the filling together.)
- 20 pieces Round wonton wrappers (Or dumpling wrappers if preferred.)
- 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil (For frying.)
Instructions
- Finely shred the Napa cabbage and sprinkle it with kosher salt. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to draw out excess moisture.
- In a large bowl, combine the drained cabbage, ground pork, reduced-sodium soy sauce, fresh ginger, toasted sesame oil, and half of the chopped scallions. Mix until fully combined.
- Take a wonton wrapper and spread a spoonful of the filling on one side. Smash the filled side down in a heated pan with oil.
- Allow the dumplings to brown for 3-4 minutes. Flip them, add water, cover, and steam for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Remove the lid and keep cooking for another minute to let excess moisture evaporate.
- Plate your hot Smash Dumplings and serve with extra soy sauce for dipping.
