- 1 lb Pork Sausage (Use any flavored sausage as a substitute.)
- 1 tbsp Dried Basil (Fresh basil can be used at double the amount.)
- 1 tbsp Dried Oregano (Italian seasoning can be used as a substitute.)
- 1 tbsp Dried Thyme (Herbal blend can be used; adjust quantity to taste.)
- to taste Salt (Adjust according to sausage saltiness.)
- to taste Pepper
- 2 sheets Frozen Puff Pastry (Thaw before using.)
- 1 Beaten Egg (Can substitute with milk for egg wash.)
- 1 tbsp Poppy Seeds (Can be replaced with sesame seeds or omitted.)
Instructions
- Mix the sausage with dried basil, oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Stir thoroughly to ensure all the spices infuse into the filling for delightful flavor.
- Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions.
- Roll out the thawed pastry dough on a floured surface, then cut it into 3 long rectangles.
- Place the sausage mixture along the center of each rectangle while leaving space on the sides.
- Fold the pastry over the sausage filling, pinching to seal the edges. Cut each log into 6 pieces.
- Cut slits in each piece for ventilation, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle poppy seeds on top.
- Bake at 375°F for 17-19 minutes until they are golden brown and flaky.
