Description

Puff Pastry Sausage Rolls are quick and versatile appetizers filled with savory sausage and herbs, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb Pork Sausage (Use any flavored sausage as a substitute.)
  • 1 tbsp Dried Basil (Fresh basil can be used at double the amount.)
  • 1 tbsp Dried Oregano (Italian seasoning can be used as a substitute.)
  • 1 tbsp Dried Thyme (Herbal blend can be used; adjust quantity to taste.)
  • to taste Salt (Adjust according to sausage saltiness.)
  • to taste Pepper
  • 2 sheets Frozen Puff Pastry (Thaw before using.)
  • 1 Beaten Egg (Can substitute with milk for egg wash.)
  • 1 tbsp Poppy Seeds (Can be replaced with sesame seeds or omitted.)

Instructions

  1. Mix the sausage with dried basil, oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Stir thoroughly to ensure all the spices infuse into the filling for delightful flavor.
  2. Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions.
  3. Roll out the thawed pastry dough on a floured surface, then cut it into 3 long rectangles.
  4. Place the sausage mixture along the center of each rectangle while leaving space on the sides.
  5. Fold the pastry over the sausage filling, pinching to seal the edges. Cut each log into 6 pieces.
  6. Cut slits in each piece for ventilation, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle poppy seeds on top.
  7. Bake at 375°F for 17-19 minutes until they are golden brown and flaky.
