Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 ½ cups warm water (100°F – 110°F)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
- ½ cup milk (slightly warm)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar; sprinkle yeast on top. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Create the dough base: In a large bowl, mix flour and salt; make a well in the center. Add melted butter, milk, and activated yeast mixture into the well.
- Knead: Mix until combined, then knead on a floured surface or with a stand mixer for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Rise: Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1-1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
- Shape: Punch down the dough gently; divide into equal pieces and shape each into balls. Place on a greased baking sheet.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover rolls with a towel for another 30 minutes to rise again. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
