Soft and Chewy Hojicha Chocolate Chip Cookies combine Japanese roasted green tea with rich chocolate chips for a delightful treat.

- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup (50g) light brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups (160g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon hojicha powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup (120g) chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
Instructions
- Beat softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes).
- Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
- In another bowl, combine flour, hojicha powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture. Stir in chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 24 hours for best flavor.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Scoop dough onto parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing 2 inches apart. Bake 8–10 minutes until edges are set and centers soft.
- Let cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
