Description

Soft and Chewy Hojicha Chocolate Chip Cookies combine Japanese roasted green tea with rich chocolate chips for a delightful treat.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup (50g) light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups (160g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon hojicha powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup (120g) chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)

Instructions

  1. Beat softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes).
  2. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, hojicha powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture. Stir in chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 24 hours for best flavor.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Scoop dough onto parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing 2 inches apart. Bake 8–10 minutes until edges are set and centers soft.
  7. Let cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
