Instructions
- Lay out the bread slices on a clean surface.
- Generously spread butter on one side of each bread slice.
- Place a slice of ham on the unbuttered side of half of the bread slices.
- Top the ham with a slice of Gruyère or Swiss cheese.
- Place the unbuttered side of the remaining bread slices on top of the cheese, forming sandwiches.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat.
- Place the sandwiches in the skillet, buttered side down, and cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
- Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook for another 3-4 minutes until crispy and the cheese is melted.
- (Optional) Transfer sandwiches to a baking sheet, sprinkle with grated Parmesan, and broil for 1-2 minutes until bubbly and crispy.
