Description

Discover the flavorful magic of Yaki Udon, a delicious and easy-to-make Japanese noodle dish. Enjoy thick, chewy udon noodles stir-fried with vibrant vegetables and coated in a mouthwatering sweet and savory sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Udon Noodles
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • 1 cup sliced Pork Belly (or chicken, beef, tofu)
  • 1/2 cup sliced Onion
  • 1/2 cup sliced Carrot
  • 1/2 cup sliced Bell Pepper (any color)
  • 1/4 cup sliced Shiitake Mushrooms
  • 2 Green Onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Mirin
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Oyster Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Sesame Oil
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Pinch of Black Pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook udon noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, mirin, sugar, oyster sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. This creates your flavorful Yaki Udon sauce.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  4. Add pork belly (or your chosen protein) and cook until browned.
  5. Add onion, carrot, bell pepper, and shiitake mushrooms to the skillet. Stir-fry for 3-5 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.
  6. Add the cooked udon noodles and the prepared flavorful Yaki Udon sauce to the skillet.
  7. Toss everything together to coat the noodles and vegetables evenly with the sauce.
  8. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the noodles to absorb the savory Yaki Udon flavor.
  9. Stir in chopped green onions.
  10. Serve your delicious Yaki Udon immediately.

Notes

  • Customize with your favorite vegetables like cabbage, broccoli, or bean sprouts for an even more flavorful Yaki Udon.
  • Adjust the sauce consistency by adding a tablespoon of water or dashi broth if needed.
  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • Ensure your Yaki Udon ingredients are prepped before you start stir-frying for a smooth cooking process.
