Delicious Christmas Sprinkle Buttermilk Bread for Cheerful Mornings
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups All-Purpose Flour (Gluten-free flour works as a substitute.)
- 2 teaspoons Baking Powder (Helps the bread rise.)
- 1 teaspoon Baking Soda (Enhances leavening with buttermilk.)
- 1 teaspoon Salt (Balances sweetness.)
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter (Can be replaced with vegetable oil for dairy-free.)
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar (Consider honey or maple syrup as alternatives.)
- 2 large Eggs (Provide moisture and stability.)
- 1 cup Buttermilk (Can be substituted with milk and lemon juice.)
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract (Almond extract offers a twist.)
- 1/2 cup Red and Green Sprinkles (Use jimmies to avoid bleeding.)
- 2 tablespoons Coarse Sugar (Adds crunch to the crust.)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×5-inch loaf pan by greasing or lining it with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, combine melted unsalted butter and granulated sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla extract and buttermilk until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Stir gently until just combined.
- Fold in the festive red and green sprinkles gently.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top. Optionally, sprinkle coarse sugar or extra sprinkles on top.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick; cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
