- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup apple butter
- 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/3 cup apple cider
- 1/3 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 tablespoons caramel sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1–3 tablespoons apple cider (as needed for consistency)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F and spray a doughnut pan generously with baking spray.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, brown sugar, apple butter, maple syrup, apple cider, yogurt, and vegetable oil until smooth.
- Add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir just until combined.
- Fill each doughnut mold about halfway and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the tops spring back when touched.
- Cool doughnuts in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
- For the glaze, mix caramel sauce, sea salt, and confectioners’ sugar. Add cider 1 tablespoon at a time until smooth and dip-worthy.
- Dip each cooled doughnut into the glaze and set on the rack to allow the glaze to firm.
