Description
Crispy, golden Apple Fries coated in cinnamon sugar and served with caramel or yogurt dipping sauce. A quick, sweet treat that combines the flavors of churros and apple pie for an irresistible dessert or snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and cut into fry-sized strips
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- Optional dipping sauce: caramel or vanilla yogurt
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a plate with paper towels.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually whisk in milk until a smooth batter forms.
- In a separate bowl, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon; set aside for coating.
- Pat apple strips dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- Dip each apple strip into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.
- Fry the apples in small batches for 2–3 minutes, turning once, until golden brown and crisp.
- Transfer fried apples to the paper towel-lined plate to drain briefly.
- While still warm, toss the apple fries in the cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly coated.
- Serve immediately with caramel or vanilla yogurt dipping sauce.
Notes
- Use Granny Smith apples for tartness or Honeycrisp for a sweeter flavor.
- Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for about 10 minutes as a lighter alternative.
- Try apple pie spice instead of cinnamon for extra warmth.
- Double-dip the apples in batter for added crunch.
- Serve with caramel, chocolate, or cream cheese dip for variety.
